The NEN Spec procedure can be aligned with the patent application procedure. This will save you valuable time! The diagram below shows how. It is recommended to fill in the boosterscan first, request a review by NEN and gain more insight into the trade-off between standardization, patenting and secrecy. The various options will be discussed during the review based on your needs. For the review we work together with the Dutch Enterprise Agency (RVO).

A NEN Spec procedure can already be started when the results of the novelty search are known. These results provide an indication on the patentability of your concept. Subsequently, the NEN Spec can theoretically be in place at the time the patent is granted. This allows you to give your concept a significant boost as soon as it’s ready for the market launch.
